Pray for Christchurch

Following the tragic terror attack and massacre that occurred in New Zealand, 50 innocent Muslims lost their life and many were left injured.

This tragic event has shocked the world. The community has responded strongly by condemning the massacre and showed their solidarity with the Muslim community. Many people from various faith backgrounds have shown their support by visiting their local Mosque to simply express their condolences to the Muslim community and try to share their pain.

The Australia Light Foundation was one of many Mosques that received messages of support, flowers and special guests.

The Australia Light Foundation was honoured by the visit of two separate faith leaders. The first was a visit by the retired Anglican Priest Father Don Edgar and the second visit was by Newton Daddow who is a member of the local Westgate Baptist Church in Yarraville and a Chaplain at Swinburne University.

Both faith leaders expressed their sincere condolences to the Muslim community and advised that they too were mourning with the Muslim community over this devastating attack.

Father Don Edgar expressed that he was extremely sorry about what had occurred and advised the Australia Light Foundation that he strongly condemned the attack and that all he could do now was to be with the Muslim community and try to share their pain.

Newton Daddow, shared his feelings and advised the Australia Light Foundation that through his visit he wanted to show his solidarity and to be with the Muslim community during this very difficult time. Newton expressed that the aims of the Muslim community were similar to the aims of the Christian community. He continued by stating that this devastating incident will bring believers of God more closer than ever before.

Whilst faith group leaders were visiting the Australia Light Foundation in person, there were many members from the community that were showing their support to the Muslim community by leaving flowers at the Fitzroy Mosque Branch of the Australia Light Foundation.

These actions clearly demonstrate why Bediuzzaman Said Nursi categorizes the West/Europe into two separate categories.

The first is the Europe/West that follows the sciences that serve justice and right and is beneficial for the life of society through the inspiration it has received through Christianity.

The second West/Europe, is reflected through the darkness of the philosophy of Naturalism, supposing the evils of civilisation to be its virtues, which has driven mankind to vice and misguidance.

The actions of Father Don Edgar and Newton Daddow clearly align with the first category of West/Europe that Bediuzzaman Said Nursi explains and the devastating actions of Brenton Tarrant are the results of misguidance.
